How To Delete Apps Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8 Plus
When you unpack your brand-new Samsung Galaxy S8 or Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus and you’re asked to type account details and tweak its settings from scratch, you might have the feeling that the device comes as a blank sheet. The truth is, however, that neither Samsung nor Google could have missed this opportunity to sneak in a couple of their apps. Those pre-loaded apps that you find on a new smartphone are called bloatware and many users are curious if they can delete it and gain some extra storage space this way.
To answer your questions, we have a couple of bad news and a couple of good news. The bad news is that you cannot delete all that bloatware. And even when you do the best you can, the space you gain isn’t significant.
The good news, however, is that there are still plenty of apps you can delete – Google+, Gmail, Play Store, S Voice, S Health etc. And for the apps you cannot delete, you should still have the option to disable them. Last but not least, you have more than one option to delete apps on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. Now let’s have a look at your options.
Option #1 – How to delete bloatware from Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus settings
- Go to the Home screen of the device;
- Tap on the Apps icon;
- Select Settings;
- Select Applications;
- Open the Application Manager;
- Select the application you would like to delete;
- Tap on the Uninstall option;
- If you don’t have the Uninstall option, use the one labeled as Disable.
Note – you can only uninstall the downloaded apps and disable the pre-installed apps. When you disable an app, you are basically choosing to block it from automatically running at startup and you remove it from the App menu, but you will still have it on your smartphone.
Option #2 – How to delete apps from the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus Launcher
- Go back to the Home screen;
- Tap on the Apps icon;
- Select the Edit option;
- Select Uninstall / Disable.
With these two options at hand, your chances of doing a serious cleanup on your device are much bigger than ever. Do it the moment you start configuring your brand-new Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus. But do not forget to repeat these steps every now and then, as time goes by and you keep testing third-party apps from the Play Store.
