The Best Places to Watch Black Mirror Online

Black Mirror is an excellent British drama that dares to be different. It’s risky, irreverent and very capable of sparking conversation. In fact, I would say that latter is one of its strengths. We all like to discuss our favorite TV shows but discussing Black Mirror episodes takes those discussions to a whole new level. If you haven’t watched any yet, you really should. Here is how and where to watch Black Mirror online.

Black Mirror

Black Mirror is on the darker side of drama but not in a negative way. It explores shadier human impulses and illustrates potential directions being dependent on technology could take us. It isn’t afraid to explore characters, relationships, potential futures, hard-hitting subjects or anything really.

It also isn’t afraid to make us ask ourselves some important questions. Like where do we want technology to take us or how much of our humanity are we prepared to surrender for a life where technology does all the hard work for us?

Created by Charlie Brooker, a British screenwriter, this TV show has it all. Darkness, dark humor, irreverence, great characters and involving storylines. As each episode stands on its own, you don’t have to watch then in any order which is a real bonus.

Where to watch Black Mirror online

So enough about the show. Where can you watch it legally? Black Mirror is a Netflix exclusive so is only really available legally there. However, if you use a VPN, you can access it on YouTube and Google Play as well as Amazon Prime Video.

Netflix

Netflix is currently showing four seasons of Black Mirror. You can start at the very beginning and work your way through seasons one to four from within this single platform. You shouldn’t need me to introduce Netflix so I won’t waste your time. All I will say is that the streaming quality is excellent, audio top class and you can binge watch your way through most of the seasons in one place.

YouTube

YouTube has some Black Mirror episodes available on its UK site but they are limited to only six. That’s fine as they don’t have to be watched in any order so can be standalone and bought individually. They cost £1.99 ($2.60) each and include some of the best episodes, USS Callister, Arkangel, Crocodile, Hang the DJ, Metalhead and Black Museum.

I have no idea whether YouTube will be getting more seasons or whether this is it but what it has is the usual HD quality with good audio and the speed and reliability of YouTube.

Google Play

Google Play also has Black Mirror. It only has seasons 3 and 4 on the UK site, but again, if you use a VPN you should be able to access them without a problem. You can buy each episode individually or pay £12.99 ($17.00 for a full season in HD. You will then be able to watch them on your phone, tablet, browser or wherever you like.

Amazon Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video currently has all four seasons available through its UK website. If you have a VPN and can change your Amazon region you should be able to watch these without issue. The US site currently doesn’t have them but that may change at any time.

Again, Amazon Prime Video should need no introduction and if you have a subscription, you should be able to watch all episodes back to back should you want to.

iTunes

British iTunes also has the same episodes as YouTube for the same price. USS Callister, Arkangel, Crocodile, Hang the DJ, Metalhead and Black Museum are all available at £1.99 bought individually. If you’re an Apple user, you can then watch them wherever and whenever you like.

Accessing British TV from other countries

You will need a VPN with a UK endpoint server to be able to watch these shows. Preferably more than one UK endpoint just in case they become blacklisted by the streaming services. For some users this should be enough to be able to purchase and watch Black Mirror online.

For some, like Amazon and iTunes, you may have to change your region in account settings to be able to purchase and view UK content. This is simple enough and can be reversed at any time. It’s an extra step but worth the effort to watch this exceptional drama legally and support the people behind it.
