The Best CoderPad Alternatives [October 2019]

CoderPad is one of the best interviewing platforms for programmers. It boasts incredible reliability, it doesn’t lag, and interface glitches don’t happen. However, despite its build and overall quality, CoderPad does have some competition. This is good news even if you’re happy using CoderPad – it encourages the developers to keep excelling.

Here’s a list of programmer interviewing tools that are CoderPad’s solid competitors. Each one will be directly compared to CoderPad, for your convenience.

Hackerearth

Pricing

This tool is frequently used by businesses and startups. A cool thing about this one is that it offers three subscription options: Startup, Enterprise, and Custom. CoderPad’s corresponding options are always more expensive. For example, Hackerearth Standard is similar to CoderPad Small Team, but the CoderPad option costs over twice as much.

Hackerearth

Features

While Hackerearth Custom is a relatively expensive option, it is ultimately very tweakable. For instance, every subscription type for CoderPad offers an exact number of assessments (20/mo, 50/mo, 120mo, or unlimited). But with Hackerearth Custom, the number of assessments is entirely up to the customer.

Judgment

CoderPad is definitely superior to Hackerearth in terms of quality. But if you’re looking for a more affordable option, try giving Hackerearth a go. It is, however, important to mention that CoderPad also offers a Personal subscription option, and that is cheaper than Hackerearth Startup.

Hackerrank

Pricing

Hackerrank has a single, Premium option, and the price is only available on request. This might appeal to those who like to keep things simple.

Features

Where CoderPad offers a maximum number of 120 assessments per month (other than on its unlimited plan, which isn’t easy to afford), Hackerrank offers 300 for its one and only plan.

Judgment

Hackerrank definitely isn’t the best solution for programmer interviews on the market. It is a simple platform that doesn’t think too highly of itself. However, it gets the job done. Its aim is startups and mid-range companies that don’t deal solely with programming. If that’s the case for you, this platform could be your best choice.

Tests4Geeks

Pricing

The best thing about Tests4Geeks is that it comes with a free plan. Its second-level plan is at $29.95, its third plan comes in at $59.99, while its Unlimited plan costs a mere $99.95/month. Compare this with CoderPad’s $1,500/mo minimum (it can get even more expensive), and it’s clear why this is a serious competitor.

Features

Despite its low prices, Tests4Geeks is far from the worst app on the market. Its user base is divided between those who only need a low number of assessments and those who need an unlimited number. In terms of features, it is definitely weaker than the famous CoderPad. But it has one feature that CoderPad doesn’t, and that is the capability of creating and using an Anonymous domain.

Judgment

Tests4Geeks is nowhere near as serious and complex as CoderPad, but it’s still a great option when you consider the price. And to be fair, if you need a plan that offers only 2-10 assessments, you probably won’t need a whole wagon of features. This is where this app shines.

Honorable Mentions

There are many other apps that didn’t make the Top 3 cut. Here are some of the best.

Honorable Mentions

Testdome

Testdome excels because it can offer something that CoderPad can’t: two test types. The quick tests are $4/candidate, while the standard ones are $20/per candidate, for a $100 price. The price decreases as your need to test more candidates grows, making Testdome an ideal app for a larger enterprise.

Codility

The pricing here is a bit different, with the Launch plan costing $954/6mo and with the other plans being available only per request. But it also offers a full language suite, where CoderPad only has support for 20 languages.

HireSelect

This platform has a large number of features, including score reports, analytics, candidate workflows, additional documents, and many others. As such, HireSelect is the app you need for getting into details regarding hiring. Both the regular and the Pro plans have an unlimited number of assessments, but the pricing is only available on request for both.

The Best One

Although these CoderPad alternatives are more than solid, they are still seen as underdogs. But they are gaining in popularity, which is making everyone in the programmer interviewing platform game do their best to stand out.

Which one of these tools do you prefer? Or would you rather stick with CoderPad? Let us know in the comments below!

My career as a project manager has given me plenty of time to get familiar with the full Microsoft suite, as well as a host of other tools, all of which I write about online.
