Fix Blurry Pictures on the Galaxy Note 10.1
Few things are more frustrating than your camera being constantly out of focus or blurry.
Of course, there’s no simple way to fix blurry pictures that you’ve already taken. For that, you’d need to use certain apps and photo editing tools. But, you can try and prevent blurry images from ever happening.
In this article, we will look at how to prevent taking blurry and out-of-focus pictures on a Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet.
Check the Focus and Flash
The focus option needs to be set for shots of a specific range. If you want a good focus, you’ll also need rich light. Otherwise, the picture may always be blurry.
When you’re capturing an image in the dark, make sure that the object you’re taking a photo of is within the range.
Tap and hold the camera button and wait for it to focus on the object before you release it. If the lens is out of focus, you should try to focus it again. Until the lens focuses on the object, you will always capture blurry images.
Clean Your Lens
Whether you keep your tablet in a bag or out in the open it may gather dirt and dust. Also, every time you hold it you may leave your fingerprints on the lens and that can make the picture blurry.
Wipe the lens clean before you open the Camera app again. It’s always better to clean it up with a special lens-cleaning cloth that you can find in tech stores.
Do You Have a Tablet Case?
In some instances, a protective case of your tablet can affect the quality of your pictures. That’s because the angle of your case can transmit unnatural light to your camera lens and prevent it from focusing as good as it should.
Take out your Galaxy Note 10.1 from the protective case and try to take a picture. If the pictures become less blurry than that’s what is causing the issue.
Switch Between Modes
There’s an interesting method that may fix the issue with the blurry camera. It requires you to switch between two specific modes on your tablet.
- Go to the camera app.
- Select ‘Mode.’
- Choose any mode except ‘Auto.’
- Return to ‘Mode.’
- Switch back to ‘Auto.’
This may fix the blurry pictures on your camera. Sometimes when you switch between the modes the focus of your Camera may glitch and remain that way until you ‘refresh’ it by switching the modes again.
Do the ‘Focus’ Trick
If your camera doesn’t want to focus on a certain object or person, you can do the old ‘focus trick.’ Point your camera to something else until it focuses, then return it back to what you initially wanted to photograph. This can sharpen your images and make them clearer.
Switch to ‘Anti-Shake’
Many tablet cameras are extremely sensitive to motion and if your hands are shaking while you hold the tablet, the images can be blurry. The ‘Anti-shake’ camera mode will keep the picture in focus even despite the movement or your hands shaking. Go to the ‘Camera’ app and switch to the ‘Anti-shake’ mode and try to take a picture again.
Clear the Cache of the Camera App
Sometimes the Camera app gets buggy, especially after large system updates or after prolonged use. The cache memory gets filled up, consequently causing the reduction in the picture quality. Try to clear the cache memory of the camera app by doing the following:
- Go to the ‘Settings’ app.
- Find the ‘Applications’ menu.
- Tap the ‘Camera’ app from the list.
- Tap ‘Clear cache’.
This will free up some memory and maybe clear some data that may interfere with your Note 10.1 camera.
Try to Fix the Optical Camera Sensor
The optical camera sensor moves on certain tablets. Sometimes the sensor can freeze and all your pictures will appear out of focus. Fortunately, the solution for this is extremely easy. Just launch your Camera app and shake your tablet a bit to ‘unstuck’ the optical lens.
Update the OS
If your Camera app suddenly stopped working properly, there’s a chance that you need to update the Android OS. Some users report camera focus bugs after automatic updates, so you’ll need to manually update to the latest version yourself.
Before you update the system, make sure that you have at least 50% of battery life, a stable internet connection (preferably Wi-Fi due to bandwidth), and at least 140Mb of storage space. Then, do the following:
- Tap the ‘Menu’ key from the Home screen of the tablet.
- Tap the ‘Settings’ app.
- Go to ‘About Device.’
- Select ‘Software update.’
- When prompted, press OK for the device to look for updates.
- Select ‘OK’ again once it finds the required update.
After the update is finished, your tablet will reboot and you should try to take a picture again. If it’s still blurry, proceed to other methods.
What If Nothing Works?
If none of the methods from this article helped you, then there’s a possibility that the issue is hardware-related. This means that something is physically wrong with your camera lens and that it will take a tech expert to fix it.
So, take your tablet to a dedicated repair service and explain the problem. Maybe the connector cable got loose, or lens suffered some impact damage. Whatever the problem is, they will know how to go forward.
