This did not work, I turned the subtitles off on my computer (for the specific movie my kids are trying to watch) and then went out and back into the movie on my PS4 and the subtitles are still there. They show up on everything we try to watch as of yesterday, no clue how this started, but need to figure out how to turn them off permanently.
Subtitles is not an option on my PS4 and as someone who is hard of hearing it’s very upsetting. It really excludes me. I hope that some day it becomes available. The only options in the settings is account, hell, legal and log out. Extremely frustrating.
Found the mysterious, hidden, keyboard icon. Press up on your fire stick remote wheel. In the upper right corner is a feint keyboard icon. Now press the remote wheel to the right and, presto, the keyboard lights up so you can see it. Click on it and away you go! I’m 72 and it was a 3 week ordeal getting to the bottom of this as I am hearing impaired. Happy now.
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I have been dealing with Chinese subtitles on Disney for too long.
Nothing I tried worked…until your help.
We 72 year olds need each other, I guess.
Thanks again
For Samsung Smart TV, while the show is playing, hit the up arrow on the remote, and then hit it again to go to the top right corner of the screen where there’s a small box. The SELECT button will bring up the audio/subtitle menu. Choose the options you want, then return.
On a TCL Roku tv hit the home button, go to the Disney+ app, hit the * button and select update app. Even if it says your app is up to date it should be fixed.
I’m just annoyed that I have to turn them on every. darn. time. Which, okay, that’s not the end of the world for movies. But for every episode of Clone Wars, even when I’m watching them back to back? Maybe make the default something you can set per profile, and then you can just change away from your preferred default individually. That’d be my vote.
For LG ‘Magic’ remote (why did I buy something that requires magic to operate?): click square in upper R corner (roll wheel if needed), click ‘subtitles’, click languages, roll wheel to turn on highlight, then (magic!) use left or right arrows on wheel pad to move highlight to desired option, click scroll button to select.
I recently d/l the disney plus app on my roku device however I can’t get subtitles, the icon that some said appears in the upper right corner to enable them, doesn’t on my device, anyone else has the same issue? Anyone knows how to allow subtitles on the Disney app for Roku? I see an option if the app is d/l on tablets and phones but not on my TV.
What about Samsung TVs? Samsung is not on the list. From what I have read, It seems like one needs to go through the tv itself to turn off closed captioning on Disney+ rather than the app itself. Maybe that will help me.
For roku tv if you press asterix you have to scroll up till you see closed captioning then press side buttons to put it “on always then captioning track to change languages
So, I turned off the subtitles on my roku tv, I logged out because that was the last button I hadn’t pressed looking for a way to turn them off, but when I logged back in, the subtitles were off. I dont know if it was a fluke on my part, but maybe it will work again for someone else.
My career as a project manager has given me plenty of time to get familiar with the full Microsoft suite, as well as a host of other tools, all of which I write about online.
