How to Delete Zelle History

Zelle is a fast and safe way to send and receive money online. You can do this via the Zelle app, if your bank still doesn’t support this feature, or by using your banking app. It can be a true life-saver for last-minute payments or helping out a friend in an emergency.

If Zelle is your bank’s partner, you don’t even need to download a new app. You can access Zelle from the banking app you already use. All you have to do is check that your bank supports the app – there’s a list of all partners on Zelle’s official website.

You don’t need to do much to get started: type in the e-mail address or phone number of the person you want to send money to, choose the amount you’d like to send them, and they’ll receive it in just a few minutes.

How to Enroll to Zelle

Enrolling to Zelle is very simple. If your bank supports it, you can use the username and password you normally use in your online banking app. You will, of course, provide this information through your bank’s secure site to keep your account and money safe.

However, Zelle will require a new password, just to be extra safe. You can set this up after linking Zelle to your bank account. The next time you want to log into the Zelle app, use this new password. If the Touch ID or Fingerprint options are available on your smartphone, you can use them as well.

If your bank doesn’t support Zelle, download the app for iOS or Android and sign up. You need to provide your personal info, e-mail, phone number, and your card number. You can use both Visa and Mastercard, as long as they’re linked to a U.S. bank account. Credit cards aren’t accepted.

The enrollment process is done in a few seconds and you’re ready to send and receive money with Zelle.

How to Send Money on Zelle

Anyone with a bank account in the U.S. and is enrolled to Zelle can receive money from you.

However, it’s not recommended to send money to anyone you don’t know and trust. This is particularly important because you can’t cancel a payment once it’s confirmed, and money is usually transferred within minutes.

The only case where you’re able to cancel a payment is if the person you sent money to isn’t enrolled yet. But you can’t know this if you’re making a payment to someone you don’t know and trust.

You can send people money by providing their phone number or e-mail address, and you can finalize everything in just a minute or two.

  1. Log into your banking app or the Zelle app.
  2. If you’re using your banking app, find an option called Send money with Zelle. The name might be different in different banking apps, but it should be similar to this. It’s usually in Transfer or Payments menu.
  3. Add the e-mail address or phone number of the recipient, or choose the person from your list of recipients if this isn’t the first time you’ve sent them money.
  4. Type in the amount of money you want to send.
  5. Choose the account you want to send this money from. Your Zelle app may be connected to more than one account if you have them.
  6. Check all the information once again to make sure you entered everything correctly before you wrap up the payment by tapping Send.

When you’re sending money with Zelle for the first time, you’ll need to verify your identity. You can do this by using the access code you’ll receive upon sending the money. After you’ve confirmed your identity, your money will be sent and both you and the recipient will be notified. They should receive the money within minutes, but if the amount of money is large, they may have to wait for one business day.

Where Can I See My Payment History?

You can check your transaction history at any moment. It’s possible to do it either from your online banking app or directly from Zelle.

Depending on your bank, you can find Zelle transactions under Transactions or Payments, when you tap on Past payments or History.

If you’d like to see your Zelle activity in the Zelle app, open Activity, so you can take a look at all your received and sent payments. If you notice a payment with “pending” status, it could mean that the recipient hasn’t enrolled on Zelle yet. This they’ll need to do in order to receive money from you.

Can I Delete My Payment History?

You’ve been using Zelle for a while, made a couple of transactions, but now you’d like to make a fresh start and delete all your activity from the app.

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to delete your past payments from the Activity list. It may be better this way – if you could delete your past activity, you wouldn’t be able to check back in case you needed to. A list of transactions can prove that you made a certain payment.

However, if you wish to delete a person from your recipients list, this is something you can do. Deleting a recipient is also done in a few simple steps, which are similar in every online banking app.

  1. When you choose the option to Send Money with Zelle, there will also be a Manage Recipients button.
  2. Tap Manage Recipients. From this menu, you can add a new recipient, edit information about existing ones, or delete a recipient.
  3. Select the name of the recipient you want to delete.
  4. Tap Edit.
  5. Tap Delete Recipient and, if necessary, tap again to confirm.
  6. Save changes.

Double-Checking Is Vital

Keeping your activity history is a good way to track all your payments and be sure you haven’t made any mistakes. If a person who was supposed to receive your money complains about not receiving it, you can always double-check the info by opening your Zelle activity or contact customer service in case of a problem. Preventing mistakes is the best option – check everything three times before you send your money away.

I no longer have that phone number that is registered with zelle and therefore I cannot confirm the payment. Now how long is this going to be on hold for?
