Is FileYourTaxes.com Legit?

For most people, filing their taxes is stressful because mistakes can be costly, and they usually mean trouble with the IRS. That’s why it’s essential to do it through a reliable website. There are many options out there; some are safe and legit, while others are not.

File Your Taxes.com is not among the most popular tax filing sites, as many people find it tough to use. However, we have to say that this website is legit. Let’s take a closer look.

About File Your Taxes.Com

Have you ever heard stories about people who have filed their taxes on a website that turned out to be a scam? Luckily, File Your Taxes.Com is not among them.

When you go to File Your Taxes.com, your first impression will most likely be that it’s somewhat confusing. The interface isn’t very responsive or user-friendly, and it might be difficult to find what you need right off the bat.

Most of the people complained that they couldn’t understand its price structure. At one point, the website claims to be free, but you later discover that it’s not entirely free.

We’ve made a list of the most common complaints to help you decide whether to use this website or not. Keep reading to find out what difficulties you might encounter onFile Your Taxes.Com.

Pricing Structure

The site doesn’t have a clear pricing structure. You’ll have to go through various forms and tables to find the information you need. It’ll take some time to figure out how much you would have to pay. If you’re not a professional accountant, the chances are that you’ll end up completely confused.

Some users complained that they had to fill out seven different forms, in addition to the standard W-2.

Even though the website claims that you don’t have to pay anything, that’s true only for Federal taxes. Filing these is free, at least for certain income levels. However, when it comes to State taxes, you’ll have to pay up. And that’s when you realize that File Your Taxes.com neither free or cheap.

If you’re on a tight budget, you might want to search for an alternative.

No Multi-Factor Authentication

When you’re using a website of this kind, you’ll expect that it has a multi-factor authentication. That’s not the case here. That’s why we don’t recommend this site to those concerned about privacy and data theft.

What’s more, the site doesn’t even support two-factor authentication. Your username and password are your only protection.

File Your Taxes.Com may be the only tax filing software out there that doesn’t require a two-factor authorization. That’s a huge turn off for some, as it’s essential to protect your financial information and private details.

Tax Jargon

The more time we spent on this website, the more we were convinced that it doesn’t aim at ordinary people. If you’re not familiar with tax jargon, it’ll be tough to navigate through the website. Sometimes you might not understand what the section is about, and what you should do.

That can get pretty frustrating. If you wanted a professional accountant, you’d hire one.

Time-Consuming

Navigation is somewhat poor throughout the website. Many times you won’t be able to return directly to the previous page. Instead, the site will redirect you to the Home page instead of taking you one step back.

The interface isn’t user-friendly, and we believe that this website needs to be updated more often.

Little Additional Info

Do you remember the last time when you used a tax filing software? It probably had those useful hints that saved you tons of time and helped you figure out what you have to do. Well, you won’t see that on File Your Taxes.Com.

Yes, you’ll see those familiar question marks next to some of the fields. You can click on them, but you probably won’t get the kind of information you need. The explanations are complicated and not very helpful to the inexperienced.

Who Should Use This Software?

This software is not the best solution for the inexperienced and people who are just looking to file their taxes safely and quickly. It’s not for people who don’t deal with taxes regularly. However, File Your Taxes.com may be suitable for tax professionals and accountants.

You have to be familiar with the tax jargon if you want to use this software smoothly. Or at least you should have a friend or a family member that can help you. Otherwise, it can be challenging and frustrating.

However, despite its shortcomings, File Your Taxes.Com is not a scam. It’s challenging to use, and there’s little additional info to help you.

That’s why we advise you to stay away from this website if you’re a newbie when it comes to filing taxes. There are simpler and more user-friendly alternatives out there. Cheaper options also exist.

it is definitely not a user friendly page. its hard to use, I use it before going on active duty orders and now that I am back, I cannot find a way to fix my simple taxes myself. the page looks like something from the late 90s. If you’re a person not familiar with irs terms and jargon, I would stay away and file my taxes with another company for sure. I wish I would have known that before I choose this company last year.
