The Best Gaming Headsets for 2022

Gaming isn’t only about visuals. The developers of top games work hard to ensure that each aspect of the gaming experience is clean and crisp. That includes the sounds that help make the game’s world come to life. Sometimes, having a good speaker isn’t enough. You’re going to want to have a personal experience by investing in a good headset as well.

A gaming headset isn’t just good for experiencing the game that you are playing. It’s also perfect of communications and being in touch with your allies in-game. Gamers say that one of the best investments you can make for your gaming hobby is a headset. If you want to get the most out of your time playing games, then these are some of the best gaming headsets your money can buy.

01 Razer BlackShark V2

Razer is one of the top brands when it comes to gaming peripherals and accessories. As such, you shouldn’t be surprised that they have a decent headset to go along with everything else they offer too. If you want the best gaming headset, consider getting the Razer BlackShark V2. The Razer BlackShark V2 is an all-around headset. It features amazing audio quality, good pricing, and an easy-to-use software that lets you fully customize the way you hear and talk with the headset. If budget is a worry, then this wired version should be more than enough to help you get your fix.

The headset comes with 50mm TriForce Titanium drivers. These are designed to have discrete ports that will help separate various tones to prevent them from interfering with each other. The result is crisp audio quality that puts the Razer BlackShark V2 up in there with the top headsets in terms of audio quality. It’s perfect for all types of gamers – be it those who are playing casually or those who are playing competitively as well.

It also comes with a detachable mic that offers amazing recording quality so your allies will hear you loud and clear while you are playing. A detachable mic is always a good option because you can take it off if you’re not comfortable with the space it takes up from time-to-time. The Razer BlackShark V2 doesn’t lag behind in terms of audio and recording quality, so don’t hesitate to get it, especially at its low price point of less than $100.

Overall, we believe that the Razer BlackShark V2 is one of the best gaming headsets currently out there. Its affordable price is definitely one of its strongpoints, but when it comes to quality, it doesn’t lag behind even the most prime offerings out there.

02 HyperX Cloud II Wireless

Coming in at second place is the HyperX Cloud II Wireless. Many gamers claim that this was the best gaming headset from last year. If it weren’t for its rather high price point, it could’ve been the headset of this year as well. HyperX’s Cloud line of headsets have long been praised for their superb quality. That being said, the HyperX Cloud II is the fruit of all those years of hard work by HyperX. To put it simply, the Cloud II is the masterpiece of HyperX, and it’s easily the best of the Cloud line as well. It has all of the essential features that gamers need for a comfortable and immersive gaming experience, but, most notably, it delivers unmatched audio quality. The HyperX Cloud II features a closed-back design which helps deliver a crisp and clear stereo soundscape. It’s has more punch and sounds more solid compared to other products on the market. 03 Razer Kraken X

Razer delivers quality peripherals at all price points. The good news is that you don’t have to go the extra mile and spend a lot of money for a decent headset. The best budget-friendly option in our opinion has to be the Razer Kraken X. For starters, it’s a good alternative to the Razer Kraken. Razer built this headset as a cheap alternative to that high-end headset. One of the things you’ll notice with the Razer Kraken X is that it’s very lightweight. In fact, it’s the lightest headset on the market. Don’t let that light build fool you, though. Razer didn’t take any shortcuts when it came to creating the Kraken X, and it’s very durable. The Razer Kraken X is best used on PCs rather than consoles. That’s because it has virtual 7.1 surround sound, which is available via a companion app for the headset. It further elevates the headset’s audio quality and adds more depth, clarity, and definition to it. Once you experience this new level of quality from the Kraken X, you’re not going to want to go back to its regular sound quality anymore. Like other Razer offerings, the Kraken X is also stylish and comfortable. It features an understated design that gives you value for your money, even if the price itself is already cheap. While amazing, the Kraken X does have its downsides such as having a non-detachable mic. This is an easy problem to overlook though as the mic can be adjusted to fit your needs, so don’t worry too much about it. Getting a gaming headset doesn’t mean that you have to spend a lot of money. The Razer Kraken X proves that there are better budget options out there that will give you great quality for the small amount you pay.

Pros

  • Best budget friendly headset
  • 7.1 virtual surround sound
  • Very comfortable

Cons

  • Non-detachable mic

04 Epos H6Pro

One of the main factors that should affect your decision when it comes to headsets should always be sound quality. Finding the best sounding headset can be hard, but if that’s what you are looking for, go for the Epos H6Pro. Formerly known as Sennheiser, Epos has since started to make a new name for itself with an even better lineup of gaming headsets. The best offering they have currently is the H6Pro. The price of the Epos H6Pro isn’t exactly cheap or affordable, but if budget isn’t a problem, then this headset is something that will get you your money’s worth. It’s built for gamers that want to enjoy their games to a new degree after all. In terms of audio quality, the Epos H6PRO delivers the best headset experience out there. Be it for casual or for competitive gaming, the headset makes them feel as if they’ve really stepped into the game’s world, which is always exciting. Apart from delivering amazing sound quality, the H6Pro also offers an amazing mic for your gaming needs. The H6Pro benefits from the flip-to-mute and removable designs. Overall, you can expect to sound clear and crisp to your allies while you’re talking to them on the mic as it has superb soundproofing technology. That being said, the headset can also be a great tool to use when it comes to recording audio as well. If it weren’t for its price, the H6Pro would be considered the best gaming headset there is. It’s certainly the best option if budget and wired headsets aren’t a problem for you.

05 SteelSeries Arctis 9x

SteelSeries’ Arctic lineup of headsets is very famous within the gaming community. The makers deliver some of the best headsets out there, but if you’re looking for their masterpiece, go on and get the Arctis 9X. In our opinion, this is the best they have right now. From the get-go, one of the best features of the Arctis 9X is its amazing battery life. At full charge, the headset can last for as long as 20 hours. Not many wireless headsets can deliver that amount of power for such a long time, so this is certainly one of the strong points of the Arctis 9X. Better yet, you can continue using the headset as it charges. You can do this easily on the PC by connecting to your PC with a USB cable. Another problem that players have when it comes to wireless headsets is that there’s always a problem when it comes to sound quality and output. When using the Arctis 9X; however, we’ve never felt as if we’re using a wireless headset at all. The sounds are clear and there’s not a second of delay on them as well. This is a perfect device to use for gaming or even just for listening to music while on the go because of its crisp quality. The main problem we have with the Arctis 9X is that it’s heavy. It’s the heaviest option on this list clocking in at 544 grams (1.2 lbs.). However, you don’t have to worry about the headset wearing your head down. The headset features a distinct ski goggle headband design that’s used to remove the weight of the headset from your head. You won’t feel any strain from wearing the headset even if you play for hours with it. The SteelSeries Arctis 9X is expensive for a reason. Again, you’re getting your money’s worth with this headset, so you won’t regret getting it, despite it’s high price.

Pros

  • Best battery life of all wireless headsets
  • Superb quality despite wireless connection
  • Good design built for comfort

Cons

  • Very heavy (literally and with pricing)

Specification

  • Price $199.99
  • Connectivity Wireless
  • Item Dimensions ‎8.07 x 8.26 x 3.62 inches
  • Item Weight ‎1.2 pounds
  • Frequency Response 100–10000 Hz

06 Creative SXFI Gamer

Rounding off this list is another budget-friendly option. This time, it’s the Creative SFXI Gamer wired headset. We understand that its name is bad and a bit of a mouthful. However, that won’t be a problem once you actually begin using this headset. This headset seems like it’s built specifically for competitive games, such as battle royales and other shooter games. It has amazing surround sound quality. Surprisingly, it’s the headset with the best surround sound so far, despite its cheap price. What this means for your gaming experience is that you won’t have any trouble locating the sources of sounds that you’re hearing within the game. it’s perfect for games like PUBG and Fortnite, where you can get overwhelmed quickly. The Creative SXFI Gamer headset comes with positional audio, which the makers of the headset dub as Battle Mode. As weird as the name sounds, it’s actually a very useful tool when it comes to competitive gaming. The headset also comes with a good software that lets you tweak some of the settings in the headset, but it’s a bit complex to use and is not as user-friendly as other headset softwares out there. The headset also comes with an excellent mic that’s very good for communicating with your allies. Our only problem with the mic is that it has a red light at the tip which cannot be turned off. Some players might get distracted by the light if it’s being waved around in their face while they’re playing.

Pros

  • Affordable price
  • Superb surround sound quality
  • Comfy design

Cons

  • No wireless support

Specification

  • Price $69.99
  • Connectivity Wired
  • Item Dimensions 7.68 x 8.03 x 2.99 inches
  • Item Weight 0.77 lbs
  • Frequency Response 100–16,000 Hz
