May the 4th Be With You: The Best Star Wars Games of All Time
7. Star Wars: Rogue Squadron (1998)
Platforms: Nintendo 64, Windows
Factor 5’s Rogue Squadron was a fantastic arcade-style flight combat sim. Players hopped into the cockpits of various Rebel fighters and fought the Empire in space and atmospheric environments across sixteen levels. Enemies included opposing fighters, ground vehicles, ground troops, and automated defenses such as missile turrets. The game was fast-paced and graphically advanced for its time. It was also one of the few games to support the N64’s RAM expansion pack, which allowed it to run at a then-astonishing 640×480 resolution (as opposed to the 320×240 resolution that most games ran at by default). Unfortunately, the game lacked multiplayer mode, somewhat limiting its potential.
