How To Cancel Trunk Club
If you have tried clothes shopping over the internet and didn’t like it, here is how to cancel Trunk Club.
In theory, Trunk Club is the perfect answer. You get to look good and wear decent clothes without the hassle of having to go to the mall to get them. You get a personal stylist, a ‘trunk’ of up to eight items a month and the ability to try new clothes that you may not normally try. ‘lothes without the hassle of having to go to the mall to get them.
You sign up, complete a style survey to help choose your items and the stylists at Trunk Club will do the rest. All clothing is apparently selected by hand and you can have personal contact with your stylist should you need to. The clothes are sent to your home for you to try at your leisure. You then feed back to your personal stylist so they can refine what they send. Sounds ideal!
Once your trunk arrives you get 10 days to try your items and decide what to keep or not. You send back what you don’t want and pay for what you keep. You also pay a $25 ‘styling fee’ for each trunk. Simple.

Trunk Club
Trunk Club began as a service for men but expanded to women too. If you’re really not into shopping or don’t have friends you trust enough to tell you what looks good and what doesn’t, this could be the service for you. Most men don’t like shopping in any form so this works particularly well for them. Not all women enjoy shopping either, or have time for it, so they get a benefit too.
I have a couple of issues with Trunk Club and services like it though.
Pricing
One common complaint of Trunk Club and other clothing services is the high prices they charge. We don’t mind spending a lot if the quality warrants the price but you really do pay for the convenience. Time is worth money it’s true, but a typical trunk would cost in the region of $1,500 and you have no opportunity to get a discount, check out the sales or snap up a bargain while you’re in a store.
Some users have noticed that items they have received are much lower priced elsewhere. I haven’t personally seen this but it is something to bear in mind. The $25 styling fee is actually reasonable I think. Especially if a real life stylist picks out the clothes and does indeed consider your style survey when selecting items.
Styling
Have you ever been out shopping with your mom, sister or someone else who picks out the worst clothes ever? They might look good on a hanger and be of good quality but just don’t look good? I have and that is why I don’t let someone else I have never met choose my clothes for me.
I like the experience of talking to an assistant, getting their ideas or feedback and finding out what I think looks good actually doesn’t look that great. That is difficult to do over the internet. For me, no amount of convenience of clothes in a box delivered to my door can replace the real life expertise in a good quality store.
Overall, Trunk Club seems to have been well received. The quality certainly seems there, as the company is owned by Nordstrom’s you would expect it to be. However, you really do pay for the convenience of not having to drive to the mall and do it yourself. We would all like a personal stylist to help us dress I’m sure. I am also sure that working with them over the phone or internet will not get the best out of them.
If time and convenience are your priorities, Trunk Club and other services like it may hit the spot. If you like a bargain, have a particular body shape or other peculiarity that makes finding clothes that look good difficult, you may be better of finding someone you trust to help you shop. You will probably get a lot more for your money that way.
