Checking your TV and App Subscriptions – Important
The list of needs to take care of has grown a lot over the years; the bills have increased, from paying for movie services, in-app purchases, yoga sessions, paying for new skills and a lot more. After the New Year celebration, It will be reasonable to do something that will help your financial status, which is to put a check and always monitor your monthly and weekly subscriptions.
For some years now, I’ve always tried to have an idea of how much I’m spending to be able to know if every financial decision made was worth it. For example, if you sign for a gym class and you are no more interested, or maybe that HBO Now subscription is really no more keeping up with since your favorite series has ended for now.
It’s always to sit down, reflect and reevaluate once in a while and decide on what to stop paying for and what you should continue. Checking your subscription list is one of those things that you should take a closer look this New Year. If you like to know how you can do this, I will explain below.
How to Check and Cancel your App Subscriptions
The simplest way to check your app subscriptions is on your Apple device; you can use your iPhone or iPad. Alternatively, you can go through iTunes on your Mac.
- Locate the App Store app and click on it.
- Click on your Profile Photo placed in the upper right corner.
- You will be required to authorize your account (via password, Touch ID, or Face ID).
- Move down and click on the Subscriptions entry.
This will bring all your currently active and past subscriptions.
- If you have an app subscription that is still active, “Renews [date]”will appear under the subscription type.
- If you’ve canceled a subscription but still has some days before it will expire, you’ll see “Expires [date]” under the subscription type.
- When a subscription has expired completely, it will appear at the bottom of your screen under the option “Expired.” You can also renew expired subscriptions anytime you want to by pressing the subscription option and selecting a new plan.

How to Check for Other Subscriptions
Unnecessary App Store subscriptions might not be the only thing that you need to work on this year. There are also other subscriptions like games, movies and pledge services.
Checking these services can be a bit tricky, but I will explain some ways below to make it easy.
Option 1: Check your credit card statement
I always ensure that all my bills are deducted from a credit card so that the charges will be reduced and it will make it easy for me to know what I’m paying for each month. If you have are using more than one credit card to pay bills, you should consider consolidating them. This will make sure that you pay less for charges and it will make it easier for you to pay for your monthly subscriptions.
Option 2: Use a finances tool like Mint
If you are using a single card or you are using more than one card to pay for your subscriptions, there are apps and services that will automatically arrange monthly and yearly expenses to make it easy for you to see where your money is going every month.
As soon as you setup your account with apps like Mint, you will be allowed to organize recurring bills which will make it easier for you to find them in the future.
