How Many Devices Can You Stream Hulu Live On at Once?

In the world of internet streaming companies, Hulu has quietly gone about making a name for itself. Competing with behemoths such as Netflix and Amazon Prime hasn’t been easy. But with a massive array of shows and movies from its networking partners, Hulu has an impressive subscription list. As of now, Hulu is believed to have easily surpassed the 30-million subscriber mark. In the years to come, that number will only grow.

But what sets Hulu apart from the rest is its Live TV service. Other than providing its customers with videos on demand, Hulu also allows its users access to an over-the-top IPTV service featuring linear television channels. Keeping the jargon aside, what it basically means is that Hulu allows you to watch TV channels using your internet.

Granted, Hulu’s Live TV subscription is much more expensive than the standard subscription. But if you can get both your TV and web entertainment from the same service provider, then why not?

But It’s All About the Content, Stupid!

Alright, alright!

But can you get access to both Hulu’s impressive online library, as well as its TV channel database, for a certain subscription fee per month? The answer is yes!

But doesn’t Hulu provide subscription to only a certain number of channels? With most of us being very particular about which TV channels we watch, what good would that be?

Well, that’s certainly a dilemma. But not one you can’t resolve quickly. To find out whether the Hulu Live TV subscription service is something that would interest you, first check the TV channels it provides.

Hulu Live TV provides most of the popular channels found on cable, including networks like ESPN, HGTV, Fox News, TBS, MSNBC, among others. It also offers live local networks, including ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in most of the local markets across the United States.

Here’s a list of all the TV channels you’ll get access to with a Hulu Live TV subscription.

How Many Channels Can I Watch Simultaneously?

Now, this is where it gets tricky. Most web streaming companies limit the number of live screens they’d like their users to have access to. Netflix created a payment model based on how many simultaneous screens the app would provide– a system which has now become standard across streaming platforms.

The Hulu On-Demand service (with or without ads) allows you to watch on one screen at a time. But our concern in this write-up is with the Hulu Live TV service. Fortunately, Hulu allows you to watch live TV channels on two screens simultaneously at a time. The good news is that you can login to your Hulu subscription on as many devices as you’d like. But you can only watch live TV, or get access to Hulu’s online repository, on two screens at a time.

For most people, that should be enough. Even if you’re sharing your Hulu subscription with someone else, you can both watch live TV through Hulu on your different devices. The devices and services that support Hulu are mentioned below:

  1. Apple TV
  2. Roku
  3. Amazon Fire TV, Fire Stick, or Fire Tablets
  4. Mac or PC browser
  5. Android
  6. iOS
  7. Nintendo Switch
  8. Smart TVs including Samsung, LC and TCL TVs
  9. Xbox One and Xbox 360
  10. Chromecast

That’s a pretty comprehensive list, isn’t it?

Note: PlayStation 3 and 4 both allow access to Hulu’s On-Demand streaming service, but not to the Live TV option.

But I Want to Watch on More Screens!

With the number of devices that supports Hulu – pretty much everything from your TV to your mobile devices to your gaming console – it’s likely that you might want to get access to more screens with the Hulu Live TV service.

Or it might be that you want to share your Live TV service with your entire family? Maybe you and your friends like the same show and want to watch it online together, but in your separate homes? Or maybe you just have relatives visiting, and despite having a Hulu Live TV subscription, you don’t have access to run multiple devices at once!

What do you do in such a situation? Do you get another Hulu subscription?

No, you don’t need to! Because Hulu would allow you access to multiple simultaneous screens if you’re willing to shell another $9.99 per month.

With the Unlimited Screens Add-on, you can stream Hulu on all the connected devices in your home network at the same time. If you’re on the move, too, Hulu will allow you to watch your favorite content on up to three mobile devices at once!

Basically, Hulu Live TV subscription will allow you to watch your favorite content on up to two screens at a time. But if for some reason two simultaneous screens aren’t enough for you and you need access to more screens for your friends and family, Hulu has you covered. With an Unlimited Screens Add-on, you can stream your Hulu content on all the devices connected to your Home network.

If you’re traveling, you can still screen content simultaneously on three mobile devices at a time.
