How to Watch Disney Plus in Canada
Great news for all the Disney lovers out there! Disney has finally joined the video streaming club and now you can enjoy its library full of your all-time favorites.
After a two-year long wait, it launched on November 12, 2019 and already has millions of subscribers. If you live in the U.S., the Netherlands or = Canada, you could watch shows on the very same day the channel was launched. Next in line are Australia and New Zealand, while the rest of Europe will have to wait until March 2020, when Disney Plus will become available in the U.K., Spain, Italy, Germany, and France.
Disney’s well-known titles, plus new content, Pixar and Marvel Studios movies, will be available to you on multiple devices. If your current home is Canada, here’s how you can enjoy watching Disney Plus.
Get Started By Signing Up
Before you start streaming your favorite Disney movies on Disney Plus, you’ll need to get signed up for an account. Start by signing up here for a free week trial, or get your favorite movies, shows, and sports for one low price by bundling Disney Plus, Hulu, and ESPN Plus right here!
About Disney Plus
Starting with the official launch date, you won’t be able to watch Disney content on other streaming services. Disney+ will be the only channel to stream it, so if you’re interested in continuing to watch the program, you need to sign up for the channel. You can’t even watch some titles on Netflix anymore, as they’re no longer available there.
There will be more than 8,000 Disney videos available, as well as some popular classics and amazing Pixar movies, Captain Marvel, a new series called The Mandalorian, National Geographic, Star Wars, and some Fox content as well. Not to mention 30 seasons of The Simpsons! You’ll be able to watch literally any Disney movie that comes to mind, from 1937’s Snow White, to the latest episodes of High School Musical.
Some ’inappropriate’ content will, however, be excluded from Disney Plus. As Fox is a part of Disney, there will be some movies available on Disney Plus, but not those that are adult-oriented.
Here are some other details:
- You don’t need to be connected to the Internet at all times to watch the content – you can download them and watch them offline.
- You can stream Disney Plus on 10 devices at most, but only four at the same time.
- Streaming is supported by Dolby Atmos.
- The monthly fee for watching Disney + is $8.99 CAD, while the annual price is $89,99 CAD.
- You can check it out first during the seven-day trial – it’s free of charge.
- Ads will only be seen on the login page of Disney Plus channel.

How to sign up for Disney Plus if you live in Canada? It’s simple. You only need to type in your personal data and your credit card details.
- Navigate to the official website of Disney Plus on your browser.
- Click on one of the Start Free Trial options. If you want to save some money – $17 CAD a year to be precise – it’s better to sign up for the annual plan. Either way, the paying part comes only after your free trial is over, unless you cancel the subscription.
- Add the e-mail you want to use for the account and then create a password.
- Enter your credit or debit card details. You can also use PayPal to pay for this service, so if you choose this option, enter your PayPal info instead.
When you’ve completed these steps, you can relax and choose your favorite Disney titles to make your day. Not all the movies have become available immediately upon the launch, but new videos will be added in the upcoming weeks.
For now, there aren’t any providers who offer deals with free access to the Disney Plus channel in Canada, and the package including ESPN+ and Hulu is still unavailable.
You have plenty of choices when it comes to where you’re going to be streaming your Disney favorites. The streaming itself is supported by many devices: Apple TV, iPhone (iPad and iPod Touch too), Android, Xbox One, Samsung Smart TV, Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast, Roku, PS4, and LG Smart TVs. The only smart TV that doesn’t support this channel is Vizio smart TV, but there’s been a promise to fix this issue in 2020. The channel may become available on Nintendo Switch as well.
The channel allows seven user profiles at most, and they are all able to watch content in 4K resolution and HDR. This also depends on your TV and on the movie itself – naturally, not all of them are available in high resolution. The audio is also expected to be high-quality thanks to Dolby Atmos.
How to Use the Disney Plus App
If you don’t have a smart TV, Roku, or you’re simply planning to watch Disney Plus content away from home, while commuting, for example, you can download the Disney Plus app in a few easy steps.
- Depending on whether you have an Android smartphone or an iPhone, go to Google Play Store or App Store.
- Download and install the Disney Plus app.
- Sign in to your account or register if you don’t already have one.
- Choose the video you’d like to watch.
If you want to download the title and watch it offline, continue by tapping the Dowload button.
Note that you’ll be able to watch the downloaded video even if it’s deleted from the Disney Plus archive. The video will stay in your phone until you delete it yourself and you can dowload as many as you like. You can see all the titles in the Download section of the app.
Disneyland Right in Front of You
Maybe you’ll opt for a home-theater event that will include the whole family sitting in front of a big screen and eating pop corn. Maybe you’ll try to make your way back home a little more entertaining by rewatching The Lion King for the billionth time.
At a fairly low price, you can enjoy your childhood favorites and new hits wherever you are and whatever device you own.
Regardless of how old you are, Disney Plus is certainly something you’ve been waiting for a long time. And when you wish upon a star… Disney makes sure the video is right there for you to stream.
