Emergency Alerts On Huawei P9

If you own a Huawei P9, it’s a good idea to know that some of the weird loud noises with nonstop vibrations, are because of the emergency alerts on the P9. These notifications can keep you safe, but some want to know how to turn off emergency weather alerts on the P9.

The Huawei P9 gets emergency alerts or severe weather warning from government officials, local and state safety agencies, FEMA, the FCC, the National Weather Service or even Homeland Security. Having these alerts installed on your Huawei P9 is for your own safety, but for those that want to know how to turn off severe weather alert sounds, we’ll explain below.

All Huawei P9 devices have emergency weather alerts and notifications just like other smartphones. But many have suggested the Huawei’s alerts are the loudest and most annoying of them all. The P9 has four kinds of alerts. Presidential, Extreme, Severe, and AMBER alerts. All of them but one can be disabled, just follow the instructions below to turn them off.

How to Turn Off Emergency Weather Alerts on the P9

The way that you can control the emergency and weather alerts on the Huawei P9 is by going to the text messaging application called “Messaging”. Once you get to the Messaging app, follow these steps:

  1. Select the three dots in the top right corner, which is the menu button.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Browse and select Emergency Alerts.
  4. Uncheck the boxes that you don’t want to get alerts from.

If you want to turn the alerts back ON, just follow the instructions above and recheck the boxes you want to get alerts and notifications from. All of the alerts can be turned off expect for the presidential alerts. You’ve now successfully disabled any of those alerts that were keeping you awake at night, or going off at the wrong time on your Huawei P9.
