Emergency Calls Only No Network Problem On Galaxy S9 And Galaxy S9 Plus
The latest and greatest contender from Samsung, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus is continuing the tradition of smartphones becoming more than just devices for communication. So much so, that each new iteration of the device is pushing boundaries where they can now be considered as handheld computers. Still, one cannot deny and forego the basic function of a phone, which is for phone calls.
Luckily the Samsung Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus does not forget its technical roots and is primarily a communication device first. However, problems can arise when its function as a phone does not work as intended. One particular problem is when the Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 is when the only available call method is the “Emergency calls only.”
This is usually indicated in the lock screen of the phone whenever the mobile network’s signal is low or nonexistent, basically preventing owners from receiving or sending calls. There are unfortunate instances when this happens even though there is no mobile network problem and can be frustrating especially when you are expecting an urgent call to receive or make.
In addition, you also will not be able to use your phone’s voice or data services because the device considers itself to not have any network access, meaning you simply will not be able to communicate with other people using phones. There are alternatives like the Wi-Fi network, but something like this should not be left unsolved.
Thankfully the fix is a lot easier than most people imagine, despite the problem being quite serious. It only involves a few steps which are easy to follow and your phone should be working as intended in just a few minutes.
Here is How to Fix Emergency Calls Only problem in Samsung Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus:
- Go to the Home Screen of the device
- Extend the notification bar from the top by swiping down from it
- There should be a quick shortcut there for the Aircraft Mode, look for it and then tap it to activate the mode
- Bear in mind that this will shut your phone off from all networks including Mobile Data and Wi-Fi. Make sure you are not doing any downloads while doing this
- Wait for about 5 seconds with your phone in Aircraft mode
- After waiting, tap on the Aircraft mode once again to disable it and return your phone to normal
- Wait for your phone to finish connecting to its mobile network
- Test to see if you can now make regular phone calls
Usually after doing this, your phone should no longer display the Emergency calls only message. You will now be able to make normal phone calls to other numbers. What happened was the Aircraft mode forced your phone to restart its mobile network. As a result, the phone scanned for a new mobiles network. You can definitely try this again should the problem recur.
However, if this does not solve the issue, you might want to contact your mobile network service provider. Ask them if there is something wrong with your number. They usually have customer service representatives at the ready for issues like this.
