How to See Your Sprint Data Usage

If you are a heavy internet user on your phone, you may find your data allowance running short. In order to avoid potentially unpleasant situations, it is best to regularly check how much data you’ve used. Fortunately, Sprint gives you several easy ways to stay in the loop.

Check Your Data Usage via SMS

Probably the quickest way to check your data usage whenever you want to is to send one specific text message. All you need to do is type the word “usage” and send it to the phone number 1311. You will then receive a statement containing the relevant information. Not only will Sprint inform you how much data you’ve used so far but you will also get a report regarding your text and call usage.

Check Your Text Alerts

As a way to keep you aware of your general usage, Sprint will send you text alerts once you reach certain thresholds. By default, you should get these alerts once you use up 75%, 90%, and 100% of your allotted data.

Please note that you may get these notifications at different intervals depending on your data plan.

This is, without a doubt, the most effortless way to see your data usage. The reason is because the alerts are automatic and do not require any active input on your part. Of course, the downside is that they only come at predetermined milestones. Still, you should make a point to keep track of these alerts. They will let you know that you’re getting close to your limit so you could cut back on data-intensive activities.

Check with a Phone Call

Another way to check your data usage is to listen to an automated summary. To access it, simply dial *4 on your phone and follow the instructions you hear.

Check Your Data Usage Online through the “My Sprint” Account

If you don’t mind going online to see how much data you’ve gone through, you can access your “My Sprint” account to learn everything you want to know. There are two ways you can do this.

One is through Sprint’s website. You can find the “My Sprint” tab in the upper left corner of the homepage.

Before you can go any further, you will need to sign in. Once you’ve done that, you can easily check your usage by navigating the interface.

The other way to access “My Sprint” is by downloading the app. Of course, it is available both on Google Play and the App Store. Once you’ve launched the app, you just need to tap the “Usage” tab. This will show you everything you want to know in a convenient overview.

Third-Party Apps

If you feel the above mentioned methods do not fulfill your requirements, you can always turn to third-party tools. There are many apps to choose from in this regard, so make sure to carefully check Google Play or the App Store and find the one you like best. Some of your options include My Data Manager, DataMan Next/Pro, and 3G Watchdog. Of course, the list does not end there.

The Final Word

These are the five options you have available to see your Sprint data usage. Put some of them to use to ensure that everything stays under control and that you don’t go over your data allowance.

My career as a project manager has given me plenty of time to get familiar with the full Microsoft suite, as well as a host of other tools, all of which I write about online.
