Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8 Plus: Notification Sounds Not Working (Solution)
Galax S8 Plus can work with so many apps and services that notifications are an important feature, designed to keep you up to date with whatever is happening on any of those apps and services. Unfortunately, notification sounds are also often mentioned when it comes to the problems that one may experience with a Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus smartphone.
The good news, however, is that more often than not, the cause is relatively simple and relates to some unexpected changes in the settings. Consequently, you should be able to troubleshoot the problem on your own.
In today’s article, we’d like to share with you 5 different ways you can tackle this issue. One of them should be your solution for the Galaxy S8 Plus notification sounds not working.
Simply reboot the phone
The first and simplest thing you can try is to simply reboot the device. Whatever glitch was going on, there are many instances when the reboot makes it all go away. In order to reboot or to force restart your smartphone, you will need to simultaneously tap and hold the Power and the Volume Down buttons. After approximately 10 seconds, your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus will start to vibrate shortly, will turn off and, a couple of seconds later, start the rebooting process.
When it’s up and running once again, test to see if you’re still not getting the notification sounds.
Select a different notification sound
Another simple trick that could work, in case that the reboot didn’t fix the problem, is to choose a different notification sound from the settings:
- Tap on the Apps icon;
- Select Settings;
- Go to Sounds & Vibration;
- Tap on the Default Notification Sound and pick a new option from the extended list.
Check the notification mode
Your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus can actually support three main modes: the Loud Ring mode, the Vibration mode, and the Silent mode. Any of the last two can prevent you from hearing the notification sounds, so, you will have to make sure that they are not activated by mistake.
For doing so, tap on the Volume button and reduce the volume until the vibration icon will appear on the screen. You have just activated the Vibration mode and its icon should also appear in the Notification bar. If you continue to press the Volume button down, it will switch to the Silent Mode. After that, access the general Settings of the device and tap on the volume settings from the Quick Settings menu, adjusting the vibration and the sounds as necessary.
Make sure the notifications aren’t blocked
Sometimes there’s nothing wrong neither with the device nor with the notification sound. Especially if you’re getting notifications only from some apps and not from others, it could be that you have the text notification sound blocked. And there are actually two places where you can check this possibility:
- From the Lock Screen settings, if you go to the Settings menu, tap on Lock screen & Security, and access the Notification section;
- From the message option, if you go back to the Settings menu, tap on Application, select the Application Manager and access the message option.
Wherever you find an option about notifications blocked, make sure you unlock it right away.
- Verify the Game tools
The Game tools allow you, among many other things, to block the notifications so you will not be disturbed by any kind of alerts while you are playing your favorite games. If you used these tools recently, you might have forgotten to enable the alerts when you have finished playing. So, navigate to the Settings menu and look for the Games option under the Advanced Features. Tap on the Game tools and see if there’s any change you can make on your notifications from that menu.
Any of these fixes could help you enjoy the notification sounds on your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus all over again. We have started from the simplest method and continued to the more complex ones, so let us know which one worked in your particular situation!
