Exit a Group Text in Messages on iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR
If you are using the new iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR and you are not interested in getting messages from group texts anymore, the most effective method is to leave the group completely.
If you will like to do this, all you need to do is tap on the group message window, locate the ‘Details’ option placed at the top of your device screen. Tap on it and a list of all the members in the group will come up, and all the media files that have been shared in the group.
Above the media files, you will see an icon named ‘Leave this Conversation’ click on the icon and you will no more be a member of the group chat and you will not messages from the group anymore.

Mute a Group Chat in Messages With Do Not Disturb
There are some users that find most of the messages that they are receiving from the group chat as unnecessary and annoying but they do not want to leave the group completely. This is because important messages can still be passed in the group chat in the future.
In this case, the method that you can use is to mute the group chat using the Do Not Disturb feature, this will ensure that you are still part of the group chat but you will not be receiving notifications for new messages from the group.
To use the ‘Do Not Disturb’ feature, you will need to locate Messages, click on the chat that you wish to mute and tap Details. Then navigate to the Do Not Disturb feature. Click on the icon to switch it on and that’s all you need to do. Once you have done that, you will not receive notifications for messages from the group chat anymore.
Another advantage of the Do Not Disturb feature is that it works for all types of messages, either iMessage-only, mixed iMessage and SMS, or just SMS. You can later go back and read through the messages that have been posted in the group to see the ones that are important to you.
