Fix overheating LG G5 with a cache clear:
Before you go to reset the smartphone to factory settings, it’s a good idea to attempt a cache clear (Learn how to clear the LG G5 cache). You can do this by turning off your smartphone and then press and hold the Power, Volume up, and Home buttons together. Once you see the LG logo show up with a blue recovery text at the top, let go. Once the smartphone goes into Recovery menu you can use the Volume down button to scroll and highlight wipe cache partition then press Power to select it. When it’s done use the Volume buttons to highlight reboot system now and Power to select it.

Sometimes the LG G5 is overheating do to the usage of a third-party application. It’s suggested that you check to see if an app is causing the problem by pressing down the Power button and then tap and hold on Power off until you see Reboot to Safe Mode and then tap Restart.
