How To Reset Password On Apple iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max And iPhone XR

The purpose of this article is to make you understand how you can reset the password of your iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR in case you forget it. There are multiple ways that you can use to reset the password of your iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR and I will be explaining them below.
One of the effective methods of resetting the password of your iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR is to complete a hard factory reset which will make you to lose all the files that you have on your device except if you carry out a backup before you start the process.
However, there are other ways that you can use to reset the password of your iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR when you are locked out without losing your files and I will explain them in this article.
Select a Way to Erase Your iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR
If you haven’t already carry out a backup process on your iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR before you got locked out, then it’s basically impossible to save any information before you start the reset process. This means that to reset your password, you will need to erase everything that you have on your iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR.
- If you have already synced your iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR with the iTunes program, then you can use the iTunes method.
- If you have registered your iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR with the iCloud or Find My iPhone service then you can use the iCloud method
- If your iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR is not connected to any of the programs mentioned above, then you can use the recovery mode method
Erase your iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR with iCloud
- Visit the site iCloud.com/find with another device
- If requested, provide your Apple ID
- Locate the All Devices option at the top of your screen
- Choose the device you wish to reset and erase
- Then click on the Erase option that will erase your smartphone and the password
- You will be provided with two options, you can either restore from a backup or set up as new
You should also know that you will need to connect your device to the internet before you can use the Find My iPhone.
Erase your iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR with iTunes
- Connect your iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, or iPhone XR to a PC
- Launch iTunes and type in the passcode if asked, you can do it on another computer that you have synced your device with or use the recovery mode.
- You will need to wait for some minutes for your device to be synced with iTunes and then start the backup process
- Once the sync has been completed and the backup done, tap on Restore [your device]
- As soon as you see the Set Up screen on your iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR, tap on Restore from iTunes backup
- Choose your device in iTunes. Check the date and size of the available backups and select the most recent one
Erase Your iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR With Recovery Mode
If you have never connected your iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR with the Find My iPhone in iCloud or synced it with iTunes, the only method that you can use to reset your password is the recovery mode. This will help you to wipe off the device and the password.
- To do this, you will need to connect your iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR to a computer and launch iTunes
- Once your device is connected, force restart it: ( You can easily do this by holding the Sleep/Wake and Home keys for up to 10 seconds and continue holding when you see the Apple icon, continue holding the keys until you see the recovery mode screen)
- Two options will come up which are; Restore or Update, click on Update. The iTunes program that you are connected will to install iOS again without touching your files and you will need to wait for some few minutes.
Once the process is completed, you will be able to use your iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR again and always make sure that you have your passcode written in a safe place in case you forget again.
