Is My Samsung Galaxy S8 Tracking My Steps?

Android phones generally come configured to track your movement using GPS, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus does the same. Google Maps uses GPS tracking to retrieve directions from where you are at to your destination. GPS tracking also helps first responders locate where you are in the event you are involved in an accident or are injured while hiking. There are many other apps that use GPS tracking to provide you with weather information, your exact location, and other location-related information.

Samsung S Health App

Samsung’s S Health app provides a number of tools and settings to help you stay fit and healthy. This app also had a built-in pedometer that will track how many steps you take on your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus. It will also allow you to set a goal for the number of steps you want to take. The S Health app uses a tiny device called an accelerometer to detect your footsteps. When your phone is on your body, the accelerometer detects the motion caused by every step you take and records it.

What the pedometer app on S health does is help track and reach your goal of daily steps walked. The way that the pedometer works is that it uses a motion sensor that is integrated in the smartphone. The sensor counts the steps without great energy consumption. If you don’t want to use the pedometer and save battery, we’ll explain how to disable the S health pedometer on your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus.

  4. Select “Set target”
  5. Tap the “6000” in bold and enter the number of steps for your goal
