Keep Rebooting Problem On Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8 Plus - Solved

Looking at your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus as it keeps rebooting without ever stopping is not pleasant at all and you must certainly want to know how to fix it. But numerous Samsung users have the same complaints, or, at least, similar complaints.

If some seem to be looking at a reboot loop, others say that the phone will reboot for several times in a row, without any warning, and then work just fine.

No matter if your phone won’t stop restarting or if it behaves erratically, randomly, the following solutions should help you fix this problem once and for all. If not, your last resort will be an authorized technician.

Our advice, however, would be to actually start from here, by taking the phone to an authorized service… But since you’re reading this article, we will assume that you first want to troubleshoot it yourself.

We have to warn you, though, that there are actually many instances when only a technician can solve this kind of issue. And resorting to his help from the very beginning, especially when your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus is still under warranty, will save you a lot of time, money, and nerves.

Nevertheless, here is what you can personally try when your smartphone keeps rebooting or, just as bad, it freezes or shuts off without notice.

Feel free to suspect:

  1. A malfunctioning third-party app, most likely something you have installed recently;
  2. A malfunctioning battery that is no longer fit to support the performances required by your smartphone;
  3. A bad firmware.

The two main options you would have at hand revolve around:

  • Identifying the faulty app in Safe Mode and uninstalling it;
  • Performing a factory reset to fix any other problems of the device.

When a third-party app makes your Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus keep rebooting…

Use the Safe Mode, it will allow you to securely uninstall the problematic app as well as to remove other bugs.

You can tell that the cause of the problem is a third-party app if the smartphone will stop rebooting once in Safe Mode:

  1. Power off the device;
  2. Tap and hold the Power button until the phone reboots;
  3. When you see the Samsung logo on the screen, tap the Volume Down button;
  4. Hold it until you are required to type the sim-pin and you see the Safe Mode at the bottom left of the screen.

Now that you have entered the Safe Mode, test your phone and use it for a little longer, to see if it will still restart. If the problem is gone, start uninstalling the most recently installed third-party app until you get rid of the faulty one.

When you suspect a firmware problem…

If it’s the firmware, like mentioned, only a factory reset will do it. If your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus can still be used, it is best that you back up your data, otherwise, you will lose everything you had on the device.

This is the last thing you can do and, unfortunately, you do not have any warranty that it will fix your Galaxy S8 reboot problem. If you’ve returned it to the factory defaults but it continues to restart, as much as you would dislike it, you will have to ask help from an authorized service!
