Will There Be a Season 3 of Lost in Space?
TechJunkie readers, you know that we don’t pull any punches and spread misinformation and rumors. Season 3 of Lost in Space is not yet confirmed by Netflix. Which might make you think that everything’s up in the air, completely uncertain, but that’s not true.
The show’s creators have said that they’re working hard on season 3 and that it’s up to Netflix to give it the green light. They haven’t yet, but they will, according to Burk Sharpless, the show’s co-writer. And if the creators are confident, that’s great news. Read on for more details about the third installment of this fascinating show.
Season 2 Was Just Released
With every new generation, Humans as a species are becoming more impatient. Modern times aren’t helping, because they encourage instant gratification. Netflix is a prime example of this. Who would have thought that we’d be able to binge-watch entire seasons of so many great shows in one place?
We’re lucky that Lost in Space is in Netflix’s safe hands. They’ll surely keep delivering, considering its amazing success so far. Like we said, Season 3 isn’t confirmed yet, but here are our two cents on the matter.
Season 1 dropped in April 2018. There was a bit of a hiatus until the release of season 2, on Christmas Eve 2019. This release date might be important. Consider this: which shows get released on Christmas? The simple answer is the really good shows.
Netflix knew that season 2 of Lost in Space was going to be fantastic, which is why they gave it a prime slot when everyone is watching. Therefore, it makes sense that the season 3 should be forthcoming.
When Should We Expect the Third Season?
Now, that’s the million-dollar question. All we can do is speculate, using logical thinking. If the last season was released at the end of 2019, it makes sense that season 3 should come around in late 2020.
A rather optimistic person would say that it will come around by the fall. A more realistic approach is to expect season 3 in early 2021. The first quarter of the following year seems to be the spot-on timing for this show. We might be wrong, so take this speculation with a pinch of salt.
The show’s creators are already hard at work writing the new season, and they might surprise us with an early release if Netflix allows it. A lot of factors come into play when setting up a release schedule for a TV show.
Netflix is huge and has a really tight schedule. They won’t be releasing new seasons of several big shows at once, will they? Who knows? But 2020 will probably end with a bang, and Netflix will capitalize on the holiday season, no doubt about it.
What Can We Expect from Season 3? (spoiler alert!)
The writers of the show said that they love experimenting with genres and doing their own thing. In essence, it’s a family drama, with sci-fi elements, redemption stories, a great depiction of what you can achieve with the power of love, etc.
Season 3 will be more of the same. It will probably resolve some of the questions left unanswered in season 2. It should be very interesting because we’ll see how the family members will cope with being separated.
The season will follow two story arcs, one following the kids, and the other following the parents. This should be exciting and give variety to the viewers. It will be interesting to see the adventures of kids without their parent’s supervision.
You can actually learn a lot from this show if you look at its deeper meaning. It deals with growing up, family relations, and life itself. The show always was, and surely will continue to be, very emotional in the forthcoming season.
What About the Cast in Season 3?
Don’t worry, you can expect to see the same beloved cast as before. The parents John and Maureen will once again be played by Toby Stephens and Molly Parker. The kids will also return, including Mina Sundwall as Penny, Taylor Russell as Judy, and Maxwell Jenkins as Will.
Angela or Sibongile Mlambo will surely reprise her role since she became a regular character in the second season. Villains Ignacio Serricchio, played by Don West, and Parker Posey, played by June Harris, ought to return and cause some more turmoil as well.
Fingers Crossed
There’s nothing left to do but hope that the season 3 of Lost in Space will air and deliver on its promises. Netflix still hasn’t released an official statement, nor is there a single teaser or trailer available as of now (January 2020).
It’s still pretty early for that, but we can almost certainly assume that the third season is on its way. The exact release date is unclear, but we suspect that the premiere will come in early 2021.
