Download the macOS Mojave Wallpaper Day & Night Versions
Apple unveiled its next desktop operating system this week, macOS Mojave, and as usual it includes a gorgeous new default desktop wallpaper image. What’s new, however, is that Mojave will support something that Apple calls “Dynamic Desktops,” meaning that your wallpaper image will change throughout the day based on time and lighting conditions.
In the case of macOS Mojave, the default wallpaper image is a beautiful sand dune in the Mojave Desert, and with Dynamic Desktops enabled, users will see the sun slowly move across the sky during the day, taking their desktop wallpaper from day to night. You’ll need Mojave to use Dynamic Desktops, but for those who prefer static wallpaper images, or for those on older operating systems, Apple still includes static shots of both the day and night versions of the macOS Mojave wallpaper.
Now that the first developer builds of Mojave are available, those wallpaper images have also been posted online. So if you can’t wait until the final version of the operating system is released this fall, or if your current Mac won’t be compatible with Mojave, you can still get a taste of these great new wallpapers.
Both the day and night versions are available at 5120×2880 resolution and if you’re really dedicated, you can configure them on your Mac to change automatically, giving you a very simple version of Dynamic Desktops on your current Mac right now.
As with all wallpaper images included in macOS, you’re probably fine using them as your own personal desktop wallpaper, but they’re not licensed for commercial use.
Keeping with the past several years of macOS releases, expect macOS Mojave to be released in the September or October timeframe. It will be a free update for all compatible Macs and will be distributed via the Mac App Store.
