However, some people question the website’s legitimacy and money-making method. Luckily, there’s nothing fishy about MyPoints, and you can get money and rewards.

But, this isn’t a set-and-forget scheme, and you do need to put in some effort to reap the rewards.

MyPoints – Background and Earnings

MyPoints is one of the oldest-running websites of its kind, and it’s been in the business since 1996. The membership is available to anybody. However, those who live outside the US might not be eligible for all the options.

The signup process is straightforward, and all you need to od is provide your email and password. It would be cool if the site offered social media signup, but that option wasn’t available at the time of writing. Nevertheless, you do get a gift card right away – either from Visa or Amazon.

Once you log in, you can start earning the points, and MyPoints has one of the most varied selections of categories. Since these are similar to other platforms and here is what you should know.

1. Online Shopping – The site offers more than 2,000 online retailers where you can redeem MyPoints points and make savings or earn gifts.
2. Browsing – Yahoo-based MyPoints assigns random points while you browse.
3. Printable Coupons – Earn coupons you can redeem at a local store.
4. MyPoints Emails – The site sends you BonusMail, and rewards you for reading the emails or clicking on them.
5. Referrals – When your friend becomes an active MyPoints member, you get 10% of their points. (There is no limit to the number of invitations.)
6. Local Offers – MyPoints allows you to earn rewards and points through LivingSocial and Groupons. Plus, there are available vouchers.
7. Games – Should you choose to play one of the games available on MyPoints, you get points for your effort.
8. Videos – Select a playlist on the platform, watch all the videos within the playlist, and get points in return.
9. Surveys – Your opinion helps the website’s market research program. It’s also one of the most lucrative options, so it pays to take a closer look.

MyPoints Survey System

Aside from being one of the lucrative options, the survey system is among the quickest ways to earn real money. But at the start, it takes a bit more effort on your part.

After you sign up and become a member, you need to fill out your profile and provide some personal information. The platform then matches your profile to the survey criteria, making you eligible to start completing the surveys. But there is a catch.

The website doesn’t tell you if your profile fits the survey criteria. The annoying thing is that there’s a chance to be booted out before you complete a survey.

That said, MyPoints is fair, and you can get one point even if you don’t qualify. The silver lining is that you’ll quickly figure out if you are eligible or not. But if all goes well, you get points per every ten questions you answer.

The actual money varies from one survey to another, and it doesn’t exceed $10 per survey. The average would be about $5, but you should take these earning with a pinch of salt. We took the info at the time of writing, and it might be subject to change.

How to Cash in on Your Points

The minimum number of points before you redeem is 480, and that translates to $3. Again, this too might change in the future.

Anyway, there are three main ways to reap the rewards, plus a bonus one. The basic options include the following.

Gift Cards. MyPoints partners with more than 70 restaurants and retailers where you can use the gift cards.

Travel Miles. If you have a United MileagePlus account, you can exchange points for travel miles and add them to your account.

Direct Deposits. The points are transferred to money and deposited to your PayPal or Visa prepaid.

Shop In-Store (the bonus option). Upload a receipt from your account, and you can redeem points. Of course, this applies to eligible purchases only.

What Are the Pros and Cons?

The great thing is that installing the MyPoints app adds 100 points to your account. The company also offers a Score, the proprietary browser bar, which is useful for redeeming the online shopping points.

Certain games on the website offer incredible wins. But these are random, and you need to keep an eye on the time-based special offers. Another perk is that the survey payments automatically transfer to your points.

Truthfully, there are no real cons to MyPoints. If the PayPal transfers take time and you need close to 4,000 points to cash out. Other than that, there are no quirks, and the offers and rewards are pretty consistent.
