How To Password Protect & Lock Apps for the iPhone
When it comes to the most important thing about our mobile devices, many people would say that the safety and security of their apps is the most important. Nobody wants nosey people to be able to get into their apps. The reasons for this might differ from person to person, but no one wants people snooping through their information and data.
Thankfully, you can lock your entire device, but sometimes that isn’t enough. As a result, a ton of people out there are looking for ways to lock individual apps in case people do get access to their phone. Thankfully, there is a way to lock certain apps on the iPhone and we will take a closer look at it here. It is quite simple to do and is an effective way to keep people out of certain apps that you don’t want them in.
All you have to do is go to your Settings menu, and click on the General button. From there, click on the Restrictions button and you will be asked for a passcode. This is the passcode that you will use to lock your apps. Once you set the password, you will be able to restrict certain apps. This basically means that the passcode you chose will have to be entered before you can access these apps.
However, this only works for a few of the default apps on the iPhone such as Safari, Facetime, the App Store and a few others. However, for many people out there, those aren’t the apps that you want to lock and keep secret. For most people, there is a good chance that the apps you want to lock are photos, messages, and various social media. However, you are not able to add restrictions to the apps, so what are you to do?
Well, the first thing you have to do is jailbreak your iPhone. There are hundreds and thousands of guides online about how to do this, but before you do, make sure it is something you really want to do. There are many pros and cons and you should take time to make an informed choice on this. Once you have made the choice to jailbreak your phone, then you are ready to be able to lock all devices.
There are numerous different tweaks out there that will let you lock apps (many of which will cost you a few dollars). Once you find the ones that are right for you and seem to work well based on the reviews of others, you can install it. Many of these will be able to lock apps with either a passcode or your fingerprint.
Hopefully, Apple will soon come out with a default way to lock all apps that won’t require us to download a third-party app. Whether passcodes are used to lock apps, or if Touch ID is used similar to how you unlock your device, you can be sure users would love a way to keep each and every app safe and secure.
