5 Sites Like Quora(Alternatives) - July 2019

Quora is a great site if you are looking for answers to some specific questions you have in mind. If you feel like it, you can also answer other users’ questions and help them out. However, this is a community-driven site and not all of the answers are accurate or even helpful.

The worst part about Quora is its chaotic interface. Not everyone will find their way around it and get answers they need quickly. There are many sites like Quora you may find more useful or visually appealing.

Keep reading to learn about five of the best Quora alternatives out there.

5 Sites Like Quora

As popular as it is, Quora is just one of many answering sites. You will notice there are many unanswered questions on Quora, as well as outdated or badly written solutions. Therefore, it is better to consult several sources to find the best, most accurate and up-to-date answers.

Here are some sites which are as good as Quora, if not even better. All the sites on this list are free to use and usually require only a quick sign up. All the links are provided within their description.

1. Reddit

No questions asked will be left unanswered on Reddit. It is one of the best forums on the internet, and the best part about it is the number of communities it has. You can get answers on just about any topic you can imagine, some of them very specific and detailed.

There is an Ask Reddit subreddit (which is what Reddit’s themed forums are called), where you ask and get an answer to absolutely anything. Many of the topics here are thought-provoking or even shocking. This is just a general subforum for answers, while there are many others which are more specific.

For example, anytime you decide you need a new PC, the build a PC sub will surely be of immense help. The community is friendly and experienced, and you can get very good answers to some very specific questions.

Finally, Reddit is a great alternative to Quora because it has millions of active daily users. This means that you will get your answers sooner. What’s more, with so many active users, chances are that more of them will chime in, so you’ll get a more complete answer than you would on Quora.

2. StackExchange

StackExchange is a great place to look for programming related questions and answers. Most of the questions here are successfully answered (93% as of this writing), which is a telltale sign of how reliable the site is.  Of course, you can ask stuff not related to programming as well.

It is not restricted to just one topic, as there are many of them. At the moment, there are 175 communities, each focusing on a different field. Here you can get replies from experts in those fields, so you can’t go wrong with posting on StackExchange.

3. StackOverflow

StackOverflow is another site in the same branch. It is a site made by developers for developers. Any coding questions will get answered, even the hardest ones. Everyone who wants to learn about programming should check it out.

You can even find jobs directly on this website.  What’s more, they also have very beneficial options for business owners, such as posting job ads and gaining direct access to talented employees.

4. Yahoo! Answers

Yahoo! Answers is a site that is similar to Quora and also very popular. Some may say that questions on it are trivial, but it is understandable. Its user base is very big in numbers and there are no restrictions in terms of question topics.

However, there is a system within the site that gives points to those who answer questions, allowing them to ask more of their own questions. Remember that most of the answers you can get here are Wikipedia-like, i.e. not from experts, so take them with a grain of salt.

The answers get rated, and the user who asked the question can choose the best answer. This will lock the debate, unlike Quora, where the debate continues. Overall, it is a good place for quick questions and answers without too much thought put into either.

5. Fluther

Fluther has better moderation than Yahoo! Answers or even Quora. It is easy and interesting to use. The website is split into several tabs. The general tab is for questions and solutions, typically used for gaining info on some topics of interest or starting a discussion.

The social tab is for less dry topics and more emotionally oriented questions. This site has a good division between fun and seriousness unlike, for example, Yahoo! Answers. They can also send you personalized questions based on your expertise.

Although it is not the most popular site on the list, it is certainly interesting and worth trying out.

Q and A

There are plenty of Q&A based sites – you just need to find one or more that suit your needs. If you are into coding or programming, StackOverflow and/or StackExchange are your best bet. In case you are more interested in general topics, Yahoo! Answers is a great place to ask away.

Reddit is amazing for topic-specific discussions, as well as questions you thought no one has ever asked before. It is a true goldmine as long as you dig deep enough.

Which of these sites do you like the most? Have you used any of them to ask a question you were interested in? If so, did you ever get the answer you were looking for? Tell us about your experiences in the comments below.
