Where To Download High Quality Star Wars Wallpapers

If you’re a fan of the original trilogy or prefer the newer versions of the movie franchise, there is no doubt that Star Wars has earned a place in all our consciousness. For some it is more than just a movie, but a much more emotional view of life and the eternal fight against good and evil. Now you can bring some of that to your computer desktop with these Star Wars wallpapers.

I have sifted through at least a hundred websites to find the best quality Star Wars wallpapers around. Some are original movie stills, some are from posters or other media while others are renderings of non-existent scenes. All would look great on your computer.

Star Wars Trilogy

The Star Wars Trilogy is a fan site with hundreds of stills from all of the movies. Despite saying trilogy, the site covers all movies from all generations of Star Wars. There are some awesome images on here including some of the late Carrie Fisher than I haven’t seen elsewhere. Plus the usual ships, stormtroopers, scenes and characters.

Wallpapers Craft

Wallpapers Craft features a lot in my best desktop wallpaper lists because I think it is one of the best sites out there. It also has 4K wallpapers as well as mobile, double and triple screen wallpapers too. It hasn’t let me down here either with a good range of Star Wars wallpapers from the movies, computer games and imaginings. Quality is the usual excellence and the range of resolutions and sizes covers just about any device or screen you can think of.

Imgur

As you would imagine from such a massive image website, Imgur has a few Star Wars wallpaper collections. This one is worth checking out, as is this one and this one. There is a huge range of images covering the entire spectrum of Star Wars from the movies, stills, games and renderings. I have actually downloaded a couple of these myself for personal use.

Wallpapertag

Wallpapertag is another of my go-to sites for quality desktop wallpapers. This site hasn’t let me down either with a great collection of HD wallpapers covering renderings, stills and more. There are some lame images on this site but there are also some very good ones. A few I have yet to see elsewhere.

Wallpaper Abyss

I occasionally use Wallpaper Abyss as the quantity of wallpapers on the site exceeds many others. The quality is pretty good too with a huge range of categories. It has over 2,500 Star Wars wallpapers in its collection and some of them are superb. There are dozens on here that I have not seen elsewhere and that’s saying something given how many websites I checked for this piece!

Wallpapers Wide

Wallpapers Wide is another repository rich with Star Wars wallpapers. There aren’t as many here as on some of these other sites but the quality makes it well worth visiting. Again, there are some images on here I haven’t seen elsewhere and some that are clever if not necessarily in keeping with Star Wars lore. Nevertheless, there is bound to be something here to decorate your desktop.

Wallpaper Cave

Wallpaper Cave is our final entry into my list of places to download excellent quality Star Wars wallpapers. It links to other websites but has a huge range of images from across the genre. What makes these different from the others here are that each collection has been curated by a user. The depth and breadth of Star Wars imagery available here is pretty awesome as a result.

How to use your new Star Wars wallpapers

In case you don’t know how to use images as desktop backgrounds, here is how you do it.

In Windows:

  1. Download an image from one of the excellent sites above.
  2. Select the image, right click and select Use as desktop background.
  3. If you use multiple monitors, right click an empty space on the desktop and select Personalize. Select Background and choose your image.

In Mac OS:

  1. Download an image from one of the excellent sites above.
  2. Select the Apple menu and System Preferences.
  3. Select Desktop & Screen Saver then Desktop.
  4. Select an image from the right. Drag the image if it doesn’t appear.

As someone who grew up with the original trilogy, Star Wars has made an indelible mark on my imagination. Even now, some of the stills from the original movies I discovered while writing this piece provoked memories of good times. Especially those featuring Carrie Fisher.
