While Tinder is fun, there will be times when you are bored of it. Maybe you found a better dating platform, or you’ve already met your future spouse on Tinder and don’t need to use it anymore. To ensure nobody finds you on Tinder, you must completely remove yourself from the dating pool. So, if you are ready, here is how to delete your Tinder account. Or you can hide your account if you are taking a break from the platform for some time.

How to Hide Your Tinder Account

While deleting your Tinder account is easy, it can make things tedious when you want to get back on the platform. So, if you are still in two minds about quitting Tinder, take a temporary break from the dating game. Consider hiding your Tinder account instead of deleting it altogether in such cases.

This will hide your profile temporarily, including from people who liked it. On the upside, you won’t have to start over from scratch when you return to the dating game. 

1. Open Tinder on your phone and go to your profile section.
2. Tap Settings.
   
3. Scroll down and turn off the Enable Discovery switch.
   
4. You can also use the Incognito mode if you have Tinder Plus. This will ensure that only people who have liked your profile can see you.

Once you hide your Tinder profile, you will not receive any notification, and you can uninstall the app until you decide to return. Note that your account can get deleted after two years of inactivity. So make sure to return to the platform before that. 

How to Delete Your Tinder Account

Uninstalling the Tinder app from your phone won’t delete your Tinder account. It will remain active, meaning all the matches, messages, and pictures remain.  But if you are done with the dating game, it’s best to follow the official method to delete your Tinder account.

Before deleting your account, make sure to cancel your Tinder subscription. Unfortunately, a Tinder Plus subscription is not automatically canceled when you delete your account. It would be best to take care of that separately from the Google Play Store or App Store.

1. Go to your profile section in the Tinder app.
2. Tap Settings (gear icon).
3. Scroll down and tap the Delete account button at the bottom.
   
4. You’ll see a Pause My Account prompt. Skip that and choose Delete My Account.
   
5. Give the reason you want to delete your account.
   

That’s it. Your Tinder account will be deleted from the platform. After that, you can uninstall the app from your phone to avoid any notification that may lure you back to use it. 

Note: You also have the option to pause your Tinder account instead of deleting it. That is an excellent alternative, but it is only available for Tinder premium accounts. It also means you keep paying for the service even if you don’t use it.

Should You Start Over With a New Tinder Account Right After Deleting One?

If you did not like how it was going with your old Profile, resetting your Tinder account and starting over might help improve your chances of finding a match.

However, if you have already deleted it and want to start over immediately, you must do it carefully. Starting a new account right after deleting your old one can get you shadowbanned from the service. Usually, apps such as Tinder can also track your device and related information, which is necessary to block bots.

So, you will need not only a new device but also a different email or phone number for the new account.
