How To Turn OFF GPS On Galaxy S9

Today’s technology is a double-edged sword. It makes things easier for us – no wonder they’re called smartphones. But sometimes, they’re too smart, that privacy – or lack thereof – becomes a problem.

Smartphones are able to track your every move – from the last website you logged into, to your specific location in real time. With GPS, a Samsung device can give so much information. Although helpful, sometimes, you would want to keep your location details untracked.

It’s a good thing that we can still be smarter than our smartphones. With just a few taps, you can turn off your GPS on your Samsung Galaxy S9.

Know Your Privacy Options

Your safety nests in the Privacy and Safety options of your smartphone. In this tab, you will find all the things that your phone stores about you. Here, you will be able to toggle your Locating method off. If you want to keep things private, just follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Home screen
  2. Bring down your Notification shade
  3. Click the Settings gear
  4. Select Privacy and Safety
  5. Find and tap Location
  6. Slide the Location monitoring switch off if you want it disabled. Just turn it on again if you want it used
  7. Select the Location method tab and choose any of the following: GPS, Wi-Fi, mobile networks; Wi-Fi and mobile networks; or GPS only

Since you can customize most of your smartphone settings, you can also deactivate your GPS only so that you can leave all of the other options available. In this case, you will just have to follow all of the provided steps above. Once you get to the Locating method option, just select the second option: “Wi-Fi and mobile networks”. This option will remove the GPS feature and keep the Wi-Fi and mobile networks functions open.
