How to Update an Offline Playlist in Pandora

All those Pandora lovers will be thrilled to know they can now download and listen to their favorite playlist. Even when there’s no Wi-Fi service or you don’t want to go over your data allowance, this is still possible.

Whether you have an Android or iPhone, as long as you get a Premium subscription, you’ll be able to take music offline. In this article, we’ll show you how to update your offline playlist.

Enabling the Offline Mode for Radio Stations

To listen to Pandora stations offline, you must first enable the offline mode. To do so, follow the steps:

  1. Click on ‘Profile’.
  2. Go to ‘Settings’ and look for ‘Offline Mode’.
  3. Tap the slider to enable offline listening.

If you’re a Pandora Plus user, you can save up to four playlists for offline listening. These playlists are going to be those you listen to the most.

However, you can’t choose which playlists or stations you want to save. Pandora will do this for you. And whilst it’s great to have offline playlists, after you’ve been listening to them repeatedly, you’ll soon get bored. What’s more, your offline stations won’t change on their own, even if you haven’t listened to them in a long time.

Update Pandora Offline Playlist

But there’s a way to update the offline playlists and get fresh ones. This is what you need to do:

  1. Go to ‘Settings’ and then find ‘Offline stations’.
  2. Turn off your ‘Offline stations’ and confirm you want them deleted
  3. Close Pandora completely.
  4. Next, launch the app and go to ‘Settings’ once again.
  5. Turn on ‘Offline stations’.

You should now have new stations. Any time you get bored of the same offline playlist, repeat the steps above. Keep in mind that you can’t download podcasts in Offline mode. Also note that sometimes it may take a couple of days for new playlists to show up.

Downloading Content When You’ve Got a Wi-Fi Service

If you’ve got a Premium subscription, you can download individual tracks and playlists from Pandora. Before we show you the steps, make sure you’re connected to a Wi-Fi service. If that’s all set, follow these steps to download an individual song:

  1. First, open the track you want to download.
  2. Click on the music bar. This will show the song’s information.
  3. Tap the three-dot button, which is next to the song’s name.
  4. Next, click on ‘Download’ to get a tune.

However, if you want to download anything else, here’s what you have to do:

  1. Open a station’s page.
  2. Look for the download icon. It’s on the left of the ‘Play’ button.
  3. Tap on it.

And there you go, you’ve downloaded the content onto your phone. Now, to get access to it, just look for ‘My collection’ on your Pandora page. You’ll notice a small green icon in the bottom right corner. It represents the saved content. Just tap on it to open all the tracks, albums, or playlists you’ve downloaded.

Downloading Content Using Your Phone’s Cellular Data

If for some reason, you want to download music from Pandora, but you can’t connect to any Wi-Fi service, you’ll have to use your phone’s cellular data. Follow these steps to download content if you plan to use cellular data for a while:

  1. Open Pandora and click on the three-dot menu bar. It’s in the upper left corner of the screen.
  2. Next, find ‘Audio Quality and Downloads’.
  3. Under ‘Downloads’, you’ll see ‘Allow downloads over cellular’. Toggle that button.

However, using cellular data to download content is much slower than using a Wi-Fi service, so only do it when you have to.

How Much Storage Is Enough for Downloading Content?

Depending on the kinds of stations you’re listening to, your offline content can take up anywhere from 300 MB – 700 MB. If there’s less than 500 MB available on your phone, Pandora won’t download the content. What’s more, they’ll let you know if you’re close to that limit so that you can delete some stuff.

Tips for Using Pandora Offline

The fastest way to download content from Pandora is to make sure you’re connected to any Wi-Fi service.

Don’t use your cellular data if you don’t have to, because you’ll either go over your data allowance, or you’ll burn through it before downloading what you need.

This offline feature is useful because it allows you to have your favorite songs downloaded, anytime you’re traveling to an area with little to no Wi-Fi service, or when you’re on an airplane looking for ways to kill time. To make sure Pandora is in Offline mode, you’ll have to do this:

  1. Tap the Profile icon and go to ‘Settings’.
  2. Toggle the Offline Mode ‘On’.
  3. Make sure the app is opened on your screen so that the playlists can download.

You can now enjoy music without being connected to cellular data or Wi-Fi.

Enjoy Offline Pandora Playlists

Getting subscribed to Pandora Premium will enable some interesting features like listening to playlists offline. This is a worthwhile investment because you’ll still be able to enjoy your favorite songs even in areas where there’s no Wi-Fi service, or if you don’t want to use your phone’s data.
