Is Viagogo Legit?

If your lifestyle is busy, purchasing something or making a reservation online has probably been a lifesaver on more than one occasion. Today, it’s never been easier to shop or reserve tickets for your favorite event – as we can all spare time for a couple of clicks.

There are many ticket sites where you can sell or buy tickets for a concert, theater, play, sporting event, and more. Viagogo is one of them. But people still aren’t sure whether they can trust the site or not. Keep reading to find out why.

Is It Safe to Use Viagogo?

Long story short, Viagogo is legit. Founded in 2006, the platform is still one of the most popular sites for exchanging and reselling tickets for a wide variety of events. You can find a ticket for anything from critically acclaimed plays to big soccer games, only not in the U.S.

The site covers events that take place in Europe, Africa, and parts of Asia (Pacific region and the Middle East).

You can usually buy a so-called second-hand ticket on Viagogo. This doesn’t mean the ticket isn’t valid or admissible anymore. It’s still legit, but the original purchaser now wants to sell it. Perhaps it turned out that they couldn’t go to the event, or they decided they needed the money they spent on the ticket – there are a bunch of legitimate reasons to resell or exchange.

Are There Scams on Viagogo?

Viagogo being legit doesn’t mean that all users are happy with it. Of course, some of them are, but there are a significant number of negative reviews on their website. This makes you wonder if you should be careful of purchasing a ticker via this platform.

What do people complain about? Well, the typical reasons include a rude customer care team, the relatively high booking fee or tax that you don’t see until checkout, way too expensive tickets, and the late delivery of the tickets themselves, which in some cases resulted in a customer missing an event.

In typical conditions, you receive the tickets about a week before the event itself. If you don’t, there’s the Viagogo guarantee that ensures you’ll get your money back in case the ticket never reached you. Apart from a full refund, the seller gets a “fine” – an admin fee. Still, you shouldn’t just take for granted that you’ll get the refund. As there have been complaints from people who didn’t receive their money back.

Some claim that Viagogo has recently improved its customer service and the process of purchasing tickets. Hopefully, this will lead to better reviews because, although it’s a legitimate service, it may be too unreliable to trust. For those who want to ensure that they’ll enjoy their favorite concert or basketball match, unreliability is undoubtedly a deal-breaker.

How to File a Complaint on Viagogo

Say your tickets weren’t valid and you had to miss the event. You can file a complaint to Viagogo and ask them to give you your money back. You may also need to send evidence of your tickets being rejected or of experiencing issues at the entrance. Before you file a complaint, make sure you’ve read the fine print and that the mistake wasn’t yours.

According to the official Viagogo website, if you’ve had an issue with your tickets, you can use the online contact form within the Help Center to reach out to customer support.

Plus, you’ll need to give detailed info about your situation. Therefore, make sure that you have the exact date and number of your order and other significant details.

There are also options of contacting Viagogo via phone or email, but they claim filling out the online form on the website is the quickest solution.

If the event you’re complaining about is taking place within the next couple of days, your inquiry will have priority over others. However, they try to respond to all complaints within one working day. You may receive an email or a phone call from Viagogo customer support to discuss your issue further.

After they have all the necessary information, customer support has 20 days to notify you about the outcome. If you’re not satisfied with it, you can take the complaint further.

Read Twice, Purchase Once

Viagogo is legit and often provides an excellent user experience. If you’re lucky enough to buy tickets from a decent seller, you’re unlikely to encounter any issues and will probably enjoy the event to the max. To avoid possible scams, get informed in advance about the terms and conditions of purchasing tickets on Viagogo. Also, read the fine print regarding your tickets and the event you want to attend.
