Zemana AntiMalware 3.0 Premium Review [September 2020]

In the sea of various anti-virus and anti-malware software, it’s not that easy to stand out. This is especially true if you’re new to the game and don’t offer the full suite of features that your competition does.

Realizing that, Zemana AntiMalware 3.0 Premium isn’t trying to trump its competitors by revolutionizing anti-virus software. Instead, they’ve opted for the most basic set of options, only at a much lower price than their peers. So, the question is, can Zemana deliver while being so cheap?

Zemana AntiMalware 3.0 Premium

First of all, let’s look at the price. At $25 per year, Zemana is far cheaper than its rivals. Most of the premium versions cost on average $100 or more for a yearly subscription. Of course, the scope of the features Zemana offers at this price can’t get near any of those premium anti-virus and anti-malware apps.

Some of the basic features Zemana doesn’t include are a firewall, integrated VPN, mobile apps for iOS and Android, as well any parental controls. Weirder still, it can’t even perform a full computer scan.

Zemana

Machine Learning Is the Key

One of the key advantages Zemana AntiMalware 3.0 Premium has over its competition is the involvement of machine learning in its code. This allows it to learn new ways of detecting the most recent threats. Over time, this ability should improve, allowing it to become even more efficient from scan to scan.

Thanks to this, Zemana’s service doesn’t have to rely on the existing database of known threats. Rather, it learns how to detect new threats and report them. Compared to that, other malware software would allow the potential hazard to sneak in easily. Reason being that they haven’t seen that exact type of threat before and can’t recognize it for what it is.

Scanning Power

A great thing about Zemana is that it allows you to scan individual files super-easy. By integrating into the Windows’ system shell, the file scanning option is available directly from the right-click menu.

As stated, Zemana lacks in the full system scan department. But its Smart Scan is comparable to a quick scan option readily available in other anti-malware and anti-virus software. Unfortunately, this prevents you from automatically checking each and every file on your system in a single scanning session.

Another downside to Zemana’s Smart Scan is the lack of scheduling options. This implies you won’t be able to tell Zemana to wake up your computer and scan it while you’re not using it.

Zemana AntiMalware

Quick Reaction Time

As it sources the threats database direct from the cloud in real-time, Zemana can react immediately. When dealing with new threats, Zemana doesn’t only rely on the existing threat definitions, but looks for any piece of suspicious code that could possibly threaten your computer’s security.

This allows it to stay ahead of the game when dealing with trojans, worms, rootkits, phishing attempts, adware, as well as many other threats lurking online. Whenever there’s attempt to install something to your computer, Zemana also checks whether it’s a Potentially Unwanted App (PUA) or not.

Super-Simple Interface

When looking at the interface, the most noticeable thing is the system’s health check icon. In the menu to the left there are the usual options, such as quarantine, whitelist, and reports. As the name suggests, quarantine isolates any potential threats your computer might come into contact with. By whitelisting some of them, you can indicate which of these you actually want to run on your machine.

Another great thing about Zemana AntiMalware 3.0 Premium is the clean and simple interface. True, it lacks in options others might have. But unlike others, it allows you to customize the app’s window size. By manually resizing the window or even maximizing the app across the entire screen, you’re able to set it up exactly to your needs.

Basic, Useful, and Cheap

Zemana AntiMalware 3.0 Premium doesn’t come with all the bells and whistles. Although that’s entirely true, it’s cheap enough to get away with it. The user-friendly interface lets you easily work with the app, and what it does, it does pretty competently. And as the time goes by, the integrated machine learning will allow Zemana AntiMalware 3.0 Premium to get smarter each day.
